The second edition of the Final Eight of the Italian Cup has proven to be a real success for Turin, becoming the Italian basketball capital for four days. The numbers speak for themselves: 45,631 spectators attended the men’s and women’s finals, a true record.
The numbers of the Final Eight
Umberto Gandini, President of the Lega Basket Serie A, spoke to journalists at the press conference held before the Frecciarossa Final Eight 2024 final. The first data highlighted by Gandini was the record attendance at the Inalpi Arena, reaching 40,059 spectators for the four days of men’s competition, a 10.1% increase compared to 2023 (more than 3,500 spectators). Adding the 5,572 spectators who attended the women’s Final Four semifinals on Friday, the total for the five days is 45,631 spectators.
The attendance figures have increased compared to last year and confirm the excellence of the choice of Turin,” commented Gandini. “This event has been another great satisfaction; the Final Eight has now entered the realm of a major event. I really like the fact that the Municipality and the Region begin their sports year with the Final Eight and end it with the ATP Finals in November, as it will be in 2025 as well.
Side events
During the week of the Frecciarossa Final Eight 2024, there were numerous side activities, such as the trophy being present at the Juventus Stadium during the Juventus – Udinese match and at the skyscraper of the Piedmont Region. The event at the Breitling store, the Opening Night with the screening of Meneghin’s film, initiatives with schools, the Digital Workshop, the LBA B2B Experience, the International Clinic, and the Charity Night were also part of the program. All of this was accompanied by lively entertainment every day in the foyer of the Inalpi Arena, where Joker Floors’ courts with Joker Sport flooring were installed.
