On Sunday, November 30th, during the home game of Estra Pistoia Basket 2000 against Cento, the Playground made available by the Club to the entire community was officially inaugurated. The inaugural moment, turned into a small celebration, saw the participation of numerous local authorities, as well as many children and partners Joker Floors and Conad Nord Ovest.
“We are particularly pleased and proud of the meaning behind this event,” explains Marco Peruzzi of Joker Floors, Platinum Sponsor of our club and the company that built the Playground. “Our collaboration with Pistoia Basket is rooted in shared values, and today represents yet another concrete demonstration of that. The Playground we specifically designed and donated to the club—who in turn dedicated it to the city—is meant to be a symbolic yet tangible gesture in support of spreading healthy, inclusive, and fundamental sporting values: togetherness, respect, and a sense of community. This space is much more than a playing court: it is a place for meeting, sharing, building relationships and deep bonds among real people.”
The initiative was warmly welcomed by the club’s management as well: General Manager Andrea Di Nino noted how the idea, first presented in June together with President Joseph David, became reality thanks to the collaboration with Joker Floors, and how this new facility further enriches the LumoSquare.
“What we announced in June together with President Joseph David has become reality. Now, thanks to Joker Floors’ generosity, LumoSquare features a state-of-the-art playground designed with the colors and skyline of our city,” said General Manager Andrea Di Nino. “The Club’s mission continues—to make our arena increasingly beautiful and to give those who frequent it new reasons to enjoy it seven days a week.”
The event was also marked by strong institutional involvement, with the presence of Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Celesti, Sports Councillor Alessandro Sabella, Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Tuscany Region Bernard Dika, City Councillor Paolo Tosi, and the Provincial Delegate of CONI, Andrea Capecchi.
“This is an important inauguration, part of a path we will continue together with the city’s basketball club,” added Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Celesti. “Here we want to embrace sport as a social engine, and through this first outdoor court, we aim to be ever closer to our community—both the youngest and adults—fostering true intergenerational exchange, allowing, for example, grandparents and grandchildren to spend time together.”
Throughout the event, the Playground was animated by the athletes of Special Olympics, the young players of Pistoia Basket Junior’s Minibasket program, the students of the “Leonardo Da Vinci” Comprehensive Institute, and the many people who stopped by even just for a few shots or dribbles.
A significant role was played by the Match Sponsor of the day, Conad Nord Ovest, which offered all the young visitors to the Playground a special bag containing a snack and various gadgets.
“It was truly a day that brought together sport, community, and fun. Seeing children and young people experience basketball with enthusiasm—sharing moments of play and smiles—is proof that sport is a universal language capable of creating bonds. The new playground is a concrete sign of our commitment to social engagement and inclusion: the first step in a broader project that, in 2026, will bring new initiatives to be announced in the future thanks to the support of Conad Nord Ovest, with the aim of making sport increasingly accessible and widespread throughout the territory,” added Adamo Ascari, CEO of Conad Nord Ovest. “We are happy to have collaborated on this initiative with Joker Floors, a partner who shares our vision of community and care for the local area.”
Thank you all! 🏀
